How often does Harris Community hire new Aides?
Harris Community Care always accepts applications from people that are interested in in working for the agency with a sincerity of caring for those who are unable to do things for themselves.

What experience do you need to have to become an Aide at Harris Community Care?
At Harris Community Care we strive to make sure we have highly qualified Aides. We require that you are at least 18 years of age. Those with experience are prefer; CNA, NA, Homemaker/Home Health Aides, CPR / First Aide certified or other experiences will be highly considered.

How much does Harris Community Care pay?
Harris Community Care base its pay on the experience of the person that has applied.

What are the office hours?
The Martinsburg office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm; closed 12pm to 1pm for lunch except during emergencies. The Romney office is open 8:00am to 4:00pm; closed 12pm to 1pm for lunch except during emergencies. Both offices are closed for major holidays. (New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas)

How long does it take to be hired by Harris Community Care?
Hiring is based on our case load and a favorable background check. All applications are kept on file and are always considered.

Would I have to get a background check to work for Harris Community Care?
It is state law that all Aides are required to have not only a background check but are also fingerprinted.

Are the Aides certified?
At Harris Community Care we strive to make sure we have highly qualified Aides. We require that they are at least 18 years of age. Those with experience are prefer; CNA, NA, Homemaker/Home Health Aides, CPR / First Aide certified or other experiences will be highly considered. If not certified, the agency will assist with some of the required training recommended by the state with regular training sessions given.

Do the agency have nurses on staff?
Harris Community Care has Nurse Consultants on staff with the agency. Their duties are to assess the clients and develop a plan of care that outlines the needs of the clients.

Is there a Case Manager on staff?
Harris Community Care has a Nurse Case Manager on staff to assist with the needs of the clients to other sources in the community. Those clients who are under the WV Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver Program are required to have an assessment perform by the Case Manager.

Is Harris Community Care insured?
Yes we are insured and bonded.

What are the hours and the days Harris Community Care is available?
Harris Community Care provides care to its clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Will I have the same Aide?
Harris Community Care works hard to make sure that we assign Aides whose personality would match well with the client's personality. We strive to keep the same Aide in the home. However, when an emergency arrives a sub made have to be placed to assure that the client has coverage. Also, we like to have at least 2-3 Aides trained with a particular client so that when a sub is needed, the client would be somewhat familiar with the Aide.

What if I don't get along with the Aide?
Harris Community works hard to try to match personalities between the Aide and the client. We understand that sometimes those matches are not successful, and we do our best to change the situation to obtain that comfortable and positive atmosphere for both client and Aide.

How often do the Aides get trained?
Aides are required to update CPR , First Aide, OSHA (dealing with blood borne pathogens), Adult Abuse/Neglect, and other classes on a regular basis.

How much does Harris Community Care charge per hour?
Fees for service will be discussed upon during consultation.

How long does it take to get service from Harris Community Care?
Harris Community Care does it best to provide as soon as possible upon request. There may be some delay based on the amount of hours being requested to make certain that staff is in place to cover the need.

Does Harris Community Care do background checks on the Aides?
All Aides are required to get a background check and fingerprinted by the state of West Virginia.

How long has the company been around?
Harris Community Care was established on November 1, 1987, in a two room office on Winchester Avenue in Martinsburg, WV. In April 1991, the office moved to its present location at 709 West Burke Street in Martinsburg, WV. Harris Community Care was informed of the need of more agencies to operate out of the Romney area, and July of 1993, Harris Community Care opened its second office in Romney, WV.

What types of payments does Harris Community Care take?
Harris Community Care accepts the following payments: We accept Medicaid thru eligibility of the WV Aged and Disable Medicaid Waiver Program, private insurance, private Long term care insurance, and private pay.

What areas does Harris Community Care service?
Harris Community Care services Berkeley, Morgan, Jefferson, Hampshire, Hardy, and Mineral County.

Do the Aides prepare meals for the clients?
The Aides are required to do anything that is listed on the clients plan of care. If prepare meals is indicated by the family and the nurse consultant, then they will prepare a meal that is suitable for the clients diet.
